How has being a parent changed you?
I appreciate time more. Life seemed to speed up as soon as I had kids. So I try hard to enjoy every moment because they grow so fast.
What is the best thing about parenting and the worst?
The best thing about parenting is the love that you feel... for your child and from your child. Nothing beats that. The worst thing about parenting is the worry. You will never be carefree again. You want to protect them from anything and everything and that is not always possible.
What advice can you give to other parents when it comes to the challenge of balancing job, children, partner and time for yourself?
This is one of the hardest things to learn when transitioning into becoming a parent. You have to become selfless and learn to put others needs before your own. You have to plan more. Plan dates. Be intentional. You also have to learn not to be hard on yourself when things don't get done. I read a blog once where someone wrote, "let unfinished be okay," and it's kind of stuck with me.
What are your mornings like?
Well that depends on if we are talking about the summer or the school year! Since starting my first child in school, it has been kind of chaotic. We are getting into a routine though and things are becoming easier. When we don't have somewhere to go and we are all home together we like to move slower. We have mornings where we are all snuggled in bed together and those are the best!
If you could have one day off, to do anything (guilt free). What would it be?
I would probably go to the theatre on a movie marathon with my husband and eat tons of popcorn. ;)
